Our friends at Electrify Arlington just shared how recent Administration actions will affect federal incentives for Electric Vehicles (EVs) and energy-related home improvements. They reported:
“If you want to claim a federal tax credit for an EV, you have to complete the purchase by the end of the day on September 30, 2025.
If you want to claim the federal tax credit for an energy-related improvement to your home, you have to put it into service by the end of the day on December 31, 2025.”
See CFREE’s Climate Minute #7 - Financing Home Improvements to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions, for a detailed analysis of the many incentives available from the Commonwealth and, for now, the federal government.

CFREE (Carbon Free Residential - Everything Electric) is a subcommittee of the Lincoln Green Energy Committee. CFREE provides guidance on how households can reduce use of fossil fuels and decrease greenhouse gas emissions to help Massachusetts meet statewide emissions limits set for 2030, 2040, and 2050. It also provides information about state and federal incentives that help reduce the cost of such changes. For guidance on such projects at your home, contact: Lincolngreencoach@gmail.com.
